Regina still has hotel rooms available during the Labour Day weekend, but anyone planning to visit at the last minute to go to the Labour Day Classic will have to make other plans.
There are no seats left for the Labour Day Classic at Mosaic Stadium. The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Thursday the game is sold out.
According to the Regina Hotel Association, 50 per cent of the hotel rooms in the city are booked. That percentage is down from previous years and CEO of the RHA, Tracy Fahlman, thinks there is a number of factors that play into that.
“One is we have a significant increase in our hotel supply,” said Fahlman. “Five hundred rooms came on our market just over the last two years.”
Fahlman points to a larger number of locals buying tickets or people are just staying with family or friends as other possible reasons. Hotel rooms seem to be available everywhere.
“I did a quick sample of our hotel members across the city and it looks like there’s room available in all areas,” said Fahlman.
Fahlman points to the website stayinregina.com as a good place to go if you are looking for a hotel this weekend.
There are around 3,500 hotel rooms in the Regina area.
