The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
Drunk driving statistics have shown a drop in Regina over the past year, but the Regina Police Service knows that’s nothing to rest on.
“Stats are down, that’s encouraging. I’d like to think a lot of that is because of the awareness and all these different programs that we’ve going on but it’s like anything else, we can’t take our foot off the gas pedal,” said police chief Evan Bray.
The year-to-date stats show a drop of 18.4 per cent; from 468 incidents in 2016 compared to 382 in 2017 up until the end of October.
“Stats are stats but we’re talking about people and we’re talking about lives so, really, until we can say that it’s down 100 per cent it’s not enough,” he said.
And now that Christmas party season has arrived, it’s likely more people are drinking socially.
It’s a fact not lost on police.
“No one’s immune to this. If we think it only affects certain people or it’s only certain demographics that make the decision to drink and drive that’s not true and unfortunately we see that first hand at the Regina Police Service.”
