Wind and blowing snow advisory for southeast Sask.

The southeast corner of the province is under a special weather advisory for wind and blowing snow.

According to Environment Canada, an Alberta clipper will race through the eastern prairies bringing a northwest wind gusting between 50 kilometres and 80 kilometres per hour. Some areas could see brief wind gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour later in the day.

Any areas that see snow flurries can brace for a lot of blowing snow. So drivers might want to check the Highway Hotline before heading out.

Early Wednesday morning, freezing rain in the west and central regions of the province led to a lot of glare ice on highways around Kindersley, Unity, north of Saskatoon and around the Battlefords. Texters to 306-306 also reported of an accident closing Highway 14 west of Unity.

The wind is expected to die down by Wednesday evening.

The Regina area may also see a few snow flurries or rain showers as the temperature holds above 0 C.
