It’s hairier, has more explosions than the first one and it is coming to a theatre near you.
Following the success of 2014’s Wolfcop, the sequel, Another Wolfcop, is set to make its premiere on Friday.
Regina based movie director and writer Lowell Dean said there was always a sequel planned.
“We went through like a contest to get this film made and one of the conditions is what sets your movie apart and we said ‘well you could do a million Wolfcops, so we wanted to do a franchise right from the beginning,” Dean told the 980 CJME Morning Show.
He said they shot the movie almost two years ago, with filming in Sudbury Ont. and Lumsden, Sask.
“We needed a good, classic small Saskatchewan town that would let us use a hockey rink.”
Another Wolfcop involves a shady businessman who comes into a Saskatchewan town and promises a lot of jobs and fun.
“Just in time for Christmas this small Saskatchewan town is going to get a brand new arena and all the beer they could want so there’s definitely some dangerous stuff afoot.”
Dean said they brought back many of the cast from the first film along with a few new faces.
He said the film has been getting positive feedback from its festival showings.
“I hope that bodes well for our opening weekend and that Canadians will come out and see what the chaos has in store.”
The film will be shown in Regina and Saskatoon theatres.
