The RCMP are warning the public about the dangers of carfentanil, after the deadly street drug was detected by Health Canada in a substance seized near Estevan in October.
Mounties are reminding people that carfentanil can be up to 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine. A small amount of the drug could be fatal if ingested, inhaled or absorbed through skin.
“This particular drug may still be circulating in southern Saskatchewan. Contact should be completely avoided and police should be notified,” the RCMP wrote in a news release.
Marion Ellson, 52, has been charged with possession of the drug for the purpose of trafficking. She will appear in Estevan court on Monday.
