Boxing Day shoppers brave low temperatures for lower prices

Regina shoppers were out to find out which would be lower on Boxing Day: the temperature or the prices.

Despite an extreme cold warning in place and wind chills near -45 C, shoppers were still filling the malls and stores in the Queen City.

Some were out looking for a big purchase, like Tyler Mills who was on the search for some new appliances.

“We cut back on Christmas presents so that we’d get something for the house,” Mills said.

While others were out searching for deals on something a bit smaller.

“Just 4K and Blu-ray movies,” Angela Thomas said.

But was it worth making the trek out into the frigid temperatures?

“It was tough trekking it through the snow this morning and the cold but there are a couple that are worth getting,” she said.

Shimonay Danyluk and her husband drove into Regina from Canora to try and find the best deal on a vacuum.

While she thought the deals were worth getting up early and driving in the frigid air, that wasn’t the case for her husband.

“My husband definitely does not think so, he said that this is the last time,” Danyluk said.

While there are many strategies to finding the best deal on Boxing Day, most shoppers today just had one thing to pass on: bundle up and stay warm.
