With the CFL trade deadline looming, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have made a deal with the Stampeders.
The Riders sent offensive lineman Randy Richards to Calgary on Tuesday for the rights to offensive lineman Aaron Picton.
Picton currently plays for the University of Regina Rams where he’s played in 44 games, starting 34 of them. Picton has been the team’s starting centre for the last two seasons.
Picton was chosen in the sixth round, 53rd overall, by the Stampeders in the 2015 CFL Draft.
Richards joined the Riders as a free agent during the offseason playing in two games with the green and white this season.
The Riders also announced they’ve signed receiver LaQuan Williams to the practice roster. Running back Steven Miller and receiver Matt Norzil have also been released.
The Riders will return to practice on Wednesday morning for a closed workout at Mosaic Stadium
