If you’re having a hard time dealing with the extreme cold conditions, it might be best to just stay indoors this weekend.
Environment Canada’s David Philips told the Brent Loucks Show Friday is shaping up to the be the coldest day in eight years in Saskatoon.
“We’re measuring a high of -30 C. That’s -20 C colder than it should be and -37 C for a low which is about -18C colder than you get for this time of year.”
Philips said those temperatures are, without the windchill factor, which could approach -50 C on Friday and Saturday.
“We’re not even yet in the dead of winter when typically temperatures could be colder,” he said.
However, relief from deep freeze is just around the corner. Philips explained the Bridge City should see a return to normal temperatures by mid-next week.
Philips also offered more good news to those tired of freezing their faces off.
“In 50 years of records in Saskatoon, there has only been eight years without a January thaw.”
