Majority of Sask. unhappy with Premier Wall: Mainstreet

The recent provincial budget continues to leave Saskatchewan residents unhappy with their current premier.

According to a recent Mainstreet poll, 49 per cent of Saskatchewan people disapprove of the work done by Premier Brad Wall. Forty-six per cent approved of Wall and five per cent said they were unsure.

Wall remains highly popular in Manitoba with a 61 per cent approval rating in that province.

Manitoba’s Brian Pallister, Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil and Prince Edward Island’s Wade Maclaughlin were the only premiers in the country who got positive approval ratings in their own provinces .

“We haven’t seen a lot of change at the first minister meetings, perhaps these low approval ratings at home are a sign of things to come,” Quito Maggi, president of Mainstreet Research, said.

Trudeau still liked by most Canadians

Justin Trudeau remains liked by a majority of Canadians, but only just.

He received 54 per cent approval nationwide, with 41 per cent disapproval and five per cent unsure what to think about the prime minister.

Trudeau got the highest support in New Brunswick, scoring 67 per cent approval.

Trudeau is least-liked in Alberta, where he scored a 36 per cent approval rating. He is sitting at 48 per cent approval in Saskatchewan.

Mainstreet surveyed 5,250 across Canada from June 12 -15. The poll has a 1.35 per cent margin of error, 19 times out of 20.
