Moose brawl in Alaska street

Bill Tyra captured this video of a pair of bull moose fighting on his quiet street in a suburb of Anchorage, Alaska.

Late summer to early fall is prime rutting season for the gigantic animals — males can weigh as much as 725 kg and can stand as high as six feet tall at the shoulder.

Moose are the largest members of the deer family of animals. They typically live most of the year alone, but come together during mating season. Fights like this one typically occur over females.

Alaskan hunters harvest at least 7,000 of the animals a year.
