Two charged following kidnapping, robbery in Regina

A man and woman from Regina are facing 46 charges after a kidnapping and robbery in the city on Jan. 7.

A 30-year-old woman told police she was held against her will, taken out of the city, restrained and robbed.

On Jan. 7, just after 7 p.m., the woman called the 9-1-1. She told dispatchers she was kidnapped at gunpoint from a residence in Regina and taken to a grid road near Francis, Sask.

She claimed to have been tied to a fence-post and abandoned by a man and woman, which were known to her.

The victim was able to free herself and flag down a motorist for help.

Police were able to clarify the details of the victim’s story and begin an investigation into the matter.

On Jan. 9, a man and woman were arrested at a residence in the 700 block of Pasqua St.

A sawed-off, loaded .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle was seized at the residence, along with ammunition, an airsoft handgun, identification belonging to the victim and a stolen credit card.

Now 27-year-old Allyson Bachiu and 35-year-old Jamie Miller are being charged, not only in connection with the kidnapping and robbery but also in connection with other outstanding files.

The pair are both facing charges of robbery, kidnapping, uttering threats, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon obtained by commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and tampering with a serial number of a firearm.

Bachiu is also facing three charges of breach of recognizance, three counts of breach of undertaking, six counts of breach of probation and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Miller is also facing evading police, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, assault on a Peace Officer with a weapon, pointing a firearm, seven counts of breaches of undertaking, eight counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to prohibition and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.

Both made their first court appearance at Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 10.
