The Government of Saskatchewan anticipates to spend roughly $100 million to buy land needed for the massive Regina Bypass project.
Provincial officials said the land costs were not incorporated into the final $1.88 billion price tag of the route, designed to take traffic around the city instead of through it.
After an informational technical briefing on the bypass project Friday, Doug Wakabayashi with the Ministry of Highways explained how some previously redacted information from a number of studies has now been made public. He said that can be found on the Highways and Infrastructure website.
As part of construction on the project happening around Highway 1 East, Wakabayashi also indicated how a number of interim safety measures are being put in place beginning next week. Those include simplified signage and electronic billboards. It also includes a reduced, but uniform, speed limit of 80 km/h from Balgonie to Regina.
