Regina’s boundary could be slightly expanding.
According to a report to the city’s executive committee, the city and RM of Sherwood are discussing an agreement whereby Regina would annex a few parcels of land around the intersection of Highway 1 and Campbell Street in the southwest.
The report said the owner of the land is Dream Management Corporation. Dream wants those parcels brought into city jurisdiction because the lands form natural extensions of both the existing Harbour Landing community and the future West Harbour Landing neighbourhood.
To make up for what would be a loss of tax revenue, the RM is requesting an amount equal to 15 times the foregone revenue the lands would have generated. The city estimates a one-time payment to the RM in this regard of $1,450.
Both city council and the RM’s council still have to formally sign off on the deal before it’s finalized.
