I think we’re starting to see it. Babcock apologized earlier in the season for snapping back at a reporter questioning strategy.
And you can understand to a certain extent why the coach would get tired of it. He’ll have the Leafs back in the playoffs again this season, a year after making the playoffs when many thought it would be a hard one.
We have jobs to do to spark debate and engage an audience. The coaches just are paid to win.
The higher the interest, higher the ridicule when things aren’t going well.
Babcock and Riders coach Chris Jones should start a support group for coaches of teams who live in the fishbowl.
