Crokicurl sliding into the Queen City soon

The Canadian hybrid game has already grabbed the attention of people in Saskatoon, and now Crokicurl is making its way to the Queen City.

The game will be set up by CurlSask in Victoria Park from February 12 to 16.

Crokicurl combines the board game of Crokinole with the sport of curling on a supersized playing area.

Instead of using discs, players take turns shooting curling rocks across a circular ice surface, trying to land on a higher-scoring region – on or near the centre “button” – while also trying to knock away opposing rocks.

The game is meant to build interest in a few major upcoming curling events including the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the Tim Hortons Brier, which will be held in Regina from March 3 to 11.

People can treat themselves to hot dogs and a cup of hot chocolate while they participate in the game.

Some special guests are also expected to make an appearance at the park on those days, including Canadian curling champion Pat Simmons and members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
