The Saskatoon Hilltops are off to the Canadian Bowl following a 38-16 Prairie Football Conference (PFC) championship win over the Calgary Colts Sunday.
Running back Logan Fischer scored four touchdowns for the Toppers who had a 7-1 regular season record before downing the Winnipeg Rifles 49-21 in the first round of the playoffs.
It was a nine-point game at half time when Saskatoon’s defence stepped up. James Vause made a big interception inside the five yard line to turn the Colts away on what could have been a very important drive for Calgary.
The Hilltops have now won five of the past six PFC Championships and this is their second PFC win over Calgary following last year’s 27-7 victory. On Oct. 11, the Colts handed the Hilltops their only loss of the season, 34-4.
Saskatoon will host the Canadian Bowl on Nov. 7 at the Saskatoon Minor Football Field.
