The Red Wings will host the Kindersley Klippers in Assiniboia on Friday.
The Saskatoon Blades scored late and scored often to tame the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday night.
On the tail end of a four-game road trip, Saskatoon headed into Medicine Hat coming off a 4-3 overtime win on Friday against Kootenay.
Carrying a 2-1 lead heading into the second period the Tigers extended their lead 4-2, ending the night for Blades’ netminder Brock Hamm who surrendered four goals on just 15 shots.
Hamm’s replacement Nik Amundrud returned between the pipes following a thrashing at the hands of Red Deer earlier in the week where he gave up seven goals on 32 shots. But on this night, Amundrud was nothing less than a brick wall stopping all 15 shots he faced paving the way for a Saskatoon rally in the third.
Led by rookie Blade Josh Paterson’s two goals and a third by Josh Uhrich Saskatoon battled back and held on to a 5-4 lead over the Tigers, ending the Blades’ western road trip with three wins and only one loss.
With the win Saskatoon improves to (6-3-3-0). The Blades return to SaskTel Centre on Thursday Oct. 29 for a date with the struggling Edmonton Oil Kings.
