A new luxury movie theatre, strip mall and a new location for Costco could be one step closer to becoming a reality for people who live in east Regina.
Plans for the new Aurora retail development on Victoria Avenue East were announced two years ago, but on Thursday, the Regina Planning Commission will review a report to approve re-zoning.
The proposed development site on the south side of Victoria Avenue East near the Regina Bypass is currently zoned for holding the property until the permits go through.
Landmark Cinemas announced its first Regina location in December 2016. At the time the plan was to open the new premium theatre featuring full recliner seating in spring 2018.
The development also involves Costco moving from its current location to a new building further east.
According to the report, the city has received a development proposal for the site and is ready to move forward with servicing the area.
The planning commission will also review a report on zoning for the current site of Costco when the store moves.
This report will be forwarded to city council for approval at the meeting on Feb. 26.
