You can sit back in a nice leather recliner, enjoy some popcorn and watch Super Bowl LII on a 50-foot screen.
For the first time, Cineplex will be presenting the big game on the big screen at 50 of their theatres across Canada, including Saskatoon and Regina’s Southland theatre.
Brad Ladouceur, vice-president of event cinema, said this game will be shown as a partnership with the NFL as they prepare to show games almost every Sunday during the regular season.
He said they know they won’t get those hardcore fans who have their own Super Bowl traditions.
“For a lot of new fans who are now becoming fans of the NFL, they get a chance to meet with their friends and say ‘hey let’s create our own Super Bowl party and why don’t we go see it in cinema,’” Ladouceur said.
He said that they will be handing out prizes and want to make the experience a memorable one.
“If you love going to the movies and you like the envelopment of it and you feel closer to the event because of that we think the movie-going experience translates really well into events like the Super Bowl.”
He said the acoustics inside the theatres mean that a fan won’t miss a single second of the game.
Tickets for the event are only $5.
