In honour of Canadian Ski Patrol Day, Mission Ridge is yet again teaming up with other winter resorts across the country to try and break the Guiness world record for the most people simultaneously making snow angels on Saturday.
“We fell a little short of the world record last year, so the goal this year is to make it happen and hopefully we can get our name in that big book,” said snow school director Anders Svenson.
He added the fresh snowfall makes for perfect conditions — both for hitting the slopes and making snow angels.
“We’ve got two inches — maybe even three — of brand-new, fresh powder, so at least we’ll be able to make a good snow angel,” he said.
Svenson noted the goal of the event isn’t only to make history, but also to recognize the ski patrollers out on the hills every day who keep people safe.
The current world record is 15,851 snow angels.
Mission Ridge Winter Park is located approximately 75 kilometres northeast of Regina in Fort Qu’Appelle.
