An NFL Super Bowl commercial featuring the New York Giants doing a spoof of Dirty Dancing is getting a lot of grins.
The ad features Eli Manning doing the iconic Patrick Swayze lift with Odell Beckham Jr., but for a few seconds, a Saskatchewan NFL player makes a cameo as a backup dancer.
The 980 CJME Morning Show called up Brett Jones’ mom in Weyburn to find out what she thought about the ad.
“He told us he was going down to do a commercial and he didn’t really have many facts about it, and when he came back in typical fashion he didn’t tell us a whole bunch about it,” Cheryl Roundy explained.
She thought the spoof ad was terrific and really funny and after the spot aired during the Super Bowl, her son agreed.
“I think he really enjoyed it, he thought it was pretty funny too and he was glad that other people took it the right way,” Roundy commented.
She is naturally very proud of Jones’ success as an offensive lineman in the NFL, saying he has always worked really hard to be ready whenever he gets a chance to play.
When asked about her son’s dance moves she joked, “maybe we should have put him in dance lessons as a kid.”
