There is nothing more Canadian than hockey, the cold and a beer.
But that might not necessarily mix this year’s Winter Olympics.
Due to the time difference with Pyeongchang, South Korea, the hockey games will be broadcast in the early morning hours.
So any bar in Saskatchewan that would like to open for customers to enjoy a pitcher and big screen at their establishment would have to make the request to extend hours with Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).
SLGA tells 980 CJME so far they have had no requests but expect that to change once the games really kick off.
If a request comes in it is considered on a case-by-case basis determined by a number of factors including the community the request comes from, the people it serves, the record of the licensee and any public safety concerns.
A number of requests were made and approved during the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014.
