Three homes were damaged after one caught fire Monday morning in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood.
When firefighters arrived around 10:45 a.m., Deputy Fire Chief David Kinvig said the entire home in the 1500 block of Rae Street was engulfed in flames. He added the fire did spread to the neighbouring houses and caused some damage, but crews were able to stop the blaze from spreading further.

By noon, Kinvig said EMS had not treated anyone for injuries nor transported anyone to hospital as a result of the fire. However, the homes on either side of the blaze were evacuated.
980 CJME spoke to a man outside who identified himself as the homeowner and said there was no one inside at the time.
Here’s another angle.
Humane Society came to rescue/treat at least one cat from the blaze.
The homeowner tells me there were no people inside. He says his south neighbour (an elderly man) evacuated his house and is OK, the north neighbours are in hospital having a baby. #yqr pic.twitter.com/IN9wDEenwg

The Regina Humane Society was also temporarily on-scene, treating a cat rescued from the fire.
Tami Schmidt was walking by when she saw the firefighters save the feline from what looked to be the burning home.
“It was singed and burned and bubbled … I couldn’t believe it, I’ve never seen a fire this big before,” she said.
Regina Fire and Protective Services are still investigating what caused the blaze.
