Tessa and Scott carried the Canadian flag into these South Korea Olympics, why not have them carry it out as well?
The ice dance pair of Virtue and Moir has been winning over Canadian hearts for a decade.
Gold in 2010, silver in 2014 and now double gold in 2018 after a magnificent skate Monday night as Canada collectively held their breath waiting for the score.
Moir jumped in the air with the rest of Canada and then picked up his long time partner, and — as always — they each showed grace and poise the rest of the way. They took extra photos with their entire entourage, took as much time as they could answering everyone’s questions, despite wanting to celebrate.
I know with that grace, humility and team spirit, they would want someone else to get the honour of carrying the nation’s colours later this week.
And more the reason to cheer for them, but it would be a fitting tribute to see the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history carry the flag one more time.
