A dream trip to Paris is on the brink of becoming a nightmare for a Regina woman.
Emilly McIntyre and her friends landed in Paris around 10:30 Paris time – unknowingly in the midst of several terrorism attacks throughout the city.
She got the first indication something was wrong when their taxi got caught in traffic.
Her cab driver told them “that 18 (people) were dead and we didn’t know anything else”.
By the time they arrived at their hotel, the death count was up to 35. They’ve been told to stay in their room, where McIntyre says she can hear sirens.
Her hotel is only three kilometres away from the Bataclan concert hall, where 100 people were killed.
“We’re all worried and freaked out and emotional,” she told CJME News. “We’re getting most of our information from people back home.”
McIntyre doesn’t know yet how this change or affect her travel plans. She calls the entire ordeal “surreal”.
