The day-long event welcomes over 250 female hockey players from ages four to 22.
Tiger Woods continues to be the draw and that’s a good and a bad thing for the PGA Tour.
Numbers spiked at the Honda Classic as golf fans got to see Tiger Woods play into the weekend for the first time in a while and even break 70 for the first time in 900 days.
The PGA saw its highest rating of the season with Tiger playing on the weekend and saw a nearly 40 per cent jump in TV viewership from last year’s Honda Classic when the colourful and popular American Rickie Fowler was on the leaderboard.
So that’s that. Golf fans want to see Tiger and that’s why you’ll see almost every one of his shots in every tournament he plays whether he is in the lead or not.
As much as that aggravates me as a golf fan. I’d much rather have seen Luke List and Justin Thomas go shot for shot, rather than Tiger shoot par.
But it’s a business and with Tiger back, business is getting better for the PGA. And they need to milk it for all they’ve got because clearly when he’s gone, they’re in trouble.
