More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
Regina police are now confirming that four teenage boys were taken into custody during a search of Campbell Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
The boys were taken into custody in handcuffs for questioning. All four teens have been released and no charges have been laid at this time.
The search was in connection to a stash of weapons found in the area near the school.
The weapons were discovered during an investigation into a series of what police are calling random shootings in south Regina.
Due to the proximity of the weapons, the school was put into a secure mode just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers searched the building to locate people of interest in the case.
“We’re not 100 per cent sure that (the firearms are) affiliated with the events recently, but they’re in very close proximity to the area that these events occurred,” said Regina Deputy Police Chief Dean Rae.
A 33-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds on Sunday night at the Pizza Hut and McDonalds.
Regina police believe the shootings are random and may be connected to two other shootings that damaged windows in a business and house in the same area on Thursday night.
A previous version of this story reported that three teens were taken into custody based on information provided by police. RPS has now corrected that information, saying it was four teens.
