Regina and Saskatchewan showed itself off again to the nation and we should be proud of the event organizers and volunteers who make it all go.
The Tim Horton’s Brier was a success with great crowds and a good party in the Patch. The curlers put on a great show as Brad Gushue’s rink defended their title.
The Women’s National Basketball Championship saw a rocking Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport at the University of Regina. The Saskatchewan teams came away with medals, although not the shade they had hoped.
Every time Saskatchewan hosts these major events, I’m impressed by those that do the work behind the scenes to first bring in the events and then pull them off in impressive fashion.
This year especially, there is a lot to ask of the volunteers. We still have the Memorial Cup and the CP Canadian Women’s Open coming up later in the year.
They deserve congratulations and a thank you for always being at their best when called upon.
