Moose Jaw man given 3 years for child prostitution

A Moose Jaw man has admitted to crimes related to child prostitution involving a 14-year-old girl.

Bryce John Hutchings was arrested in June and charged on several counts related to child prostitution. The charges included receiving financial benefit obtained by the sexual services of a person under 18 years of age, procuring a person under the age of 18 to provide sexual services, being an occupier of a residence that did permit a person aged 14 to be in a premise for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. Hutchings was also charged with possession of cocaine.

A week later, more charges were laid: advertising the sale of others’ sexual services and invitation to sexual touching.

Hutchings eventually pleaded guilty to advertising the sale of others’ sexual services, receiving financial benefit obtained by the sexual services of a person under 18 years of age, and possession of cocaine.

He was sentenced to three years in jail, but given credit for time served, so his sentence ends up being about 27 months from his sentencing date. He was also sentenced to provide his DNA, a 10-year firearms ban, to have his name on the sex-offender registry for 20 years, to pay a fine of several thousand dollars, and a no-contact order.
