Regina police had to use a Taser on a 41-year-old man during an arrest Thursday.
Police were called to a business on the 1700 block of Victoria Avenue, where a man reportedly had barricaded himself in a back office with a knife.
According to police, the man was alone in the office when officers arrived.
Police said they tried to negotiate with the man to have him surrender peacefully but that “negotiations did not go well” as the suspect was “acting irrationally.” They said officers believed he was high on drugs or having a mental health crisis.
Officers used the Taser on the man and he was taken into custody without injury. Police said he was then taken to hospital and admitted due to his mental state.
Regina police report all uses of a Taser as per policy.
