Jamie Nye: Jays future more exciting than the present

Here we go, it’s time for baseball — in March.

I’ll let the new baseball schedule go for now, and focus in on the Toronto Blue Jays who enter the season without Jose Bautista being the face of the franchise for the first time in almost a decade.

The Jays brought in Curtis Granderson to hopefully help a little bit with the drop in offence.

But for the Jays to be truly successful this season it’ll be all on the arms of J.A. Happ, Marcus Stroman, Marco Estrada, Jaime Garcia and Aaron Sanchez.

Health is the biggest factor after the injury bug bit them last season, but if the arms hold up for the Blue Jays one of the wild card spots is definitely in the conversation.

While I’m not optimistic the Jays will be in the playoffs, they’ll be in the mix.

What I’m more interested in, is the future of the franchise. With Toescar Hernandez and younger prospects of Vlad Guerrero Jr and Bo Bichette, you can see the Jays are two or three years away from having a new crop of stars to push the team forward.
