The Masters is here but yesterday was a great set up for an event that we’ll watch Tiger, Phil, Spieth, DJ and others try to win a green jacket.
But yesterday’s par 3 tournament may be the greatest thing we see all week.
One of the final groups of the afternoon was 82-year-old Gary Player, 78-year-old Jack Nicklaus and the young guy, 68-year old Tom Watson.
They started their round with all three within a few feet and the round got better. At one point Jack was a shot off the lead and it was Tom Watson who went on to win.
But it was actually Jack’s grandson that stole the show. Fifteen-year-old GT, got a club on the ninth hole of the par 3 course and on national TV, with a huge gallery watching and three of the biggest legends of the game standing feet away, and he knocked it in.
The hole-in-one brought tears to the eyes of his grandpa, Jack.
After six green jackets and that legendary 1986 win, Nicklaus said his grandson’s hole-in-one will go down as his all-time favourite memory at Augusta.
What a way to start the week!
