Despite -25C temperatures, the lure of a good deal was a just too good to pass up for some Saskatchewan Boxing Day shoppers.
In Saskatoon, about 50 people packed on the layers and waited in line outside the Best Buy location on 8th Street.
Mdshamin Ahmed was first in line at 4:30 a.m. Ahmed said he decided he would brave the cold when the camera he tried to get online was sold out.
“Ah, it’s crazy. It’s too cold,” he chuckled while pacing back and forth trying to stay warm.
James Wirth felt standing in the cold was a small sacrifice to get the big screen TV he wanted.
“Well, I looked at every store and online and this was definitely the cheapest deal. Shipping is pretty bad for big items so it will be wort it in the end I hope.”
Both dire hard shoppers packed on the layers for the event. Wirth even had a house coat under his winter coat but admitted that wasn’t enough to keep out the cold.
“I should’ve wore more socks,” he laughed, adding its the first and hopefully the last time he has to stand in the cold for a deal.
A Best Buy spokesperson said despite the growing popularity of Black Friday sales, Boxing Day is still number one for its customers in Canada.
