Regina police are reminding people to be cautious when buying items through social media.
The warning comes after a 21-year-old man was arrested after luring people online and robbing them in-person.
The first robbery happened on March 19 in the 1200 block of Rae Street. The suspect had an item for sale on a social media site and revealed a weapon and demanded cash when the buyer showed up for the sale.
Then, on March 14, police were dispatched to a similar situation in the 1300 block of Rae Street. The suspect had taken the money from the victim and then gave the victim a different item then what was advertised.
Finally, on March 30, police were called to a robbery in the 1500 block of Cameron Street for another similar situation. This incident was similar to the first two, but this time the suspect had what’s described as bear mace.
The victim in the third case was able to get away and call police.
Police have now arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the three incidents.
He was charged with robbery and fraud under $5,000.
