MLA Warren Steinley wins federal conservative nomination

A Saskatchewan Party MLA out of Regina will be on the ballot for the Conservatives in the next federal election.

Warren Steinley currently represents Regina Walsh Acres in the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly. On Saturday he won the federal Conservative Party of Canada nomination in the Regina-Lewvan riding.

Steinley was first elected for the Sask. Party in 2011 and announced in March that he would be making the move to federal politics.

“Representing the fine people of this province has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; an experience that has equipped me with the desire to continue to represent the people of Regina- Lewvan as I work to earn their votes and ultimately represent them in the House of Commons,” Steinley said in a news release.

When he announced his intention to run for federal office, Steinley said he planned to remain as an MLA for the time being.

Steinley will be running against the NDP MP Erin Weir in the next federal election. Weir won the seat for Regina-Lewvan in 2015.
