Mark Messier is her distant cousin, but this Sask. hockey product is carving her own path.
The Hart Trophy nominees will be announced soon. The trophy is awarded to the player deemed most valuable to his team.
The debate has been interesting. New Jersey’s Taylor Hall, Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon and Tampa’s Nikita Kucherov seem to be the top three favourites but there are others.
Alexander Ovechkin, Claude Giroux, Marc Andre Fleury and even Connor McDavid, even though his team didn’t make the post season.
But as we think about the MVP, here we are almost through the first round and are again reminded who the actual best player in hockey is.
Sidney Crosby. He’s leading the playoffs in points and when the pressure mounts, Crosby’s game rises above the rest.
While, maybe some are willing to pass the torch to a quicker, younger McDavid … no. Crosby is still the best and until someone can consistently lead their team to greatness like Crosby has been able to do, we should really stop debating.
Connor McDavid hasn’t passed Crosby by just yet because you have to make the playoffs and succeed if you’re going to surpass ‘The Kid’.
