More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
It’s crazy to see how quickly stadiums now become labelled obsolete.
The latest is the Rogers Centre in Toronto, formerly the SkyDome. It opened in 1989. That was 29 years ago and now it’s obsolete.
Major League Baseball commissioner Robert Manfred labelled it that yesterday when visiting Toronto. He also brought up the lack of ‘millennial areas’ in the stadium… whatever the heck those are.
Manfred says the stadium is fine but out of date.
Remember when Maple Leaf Gardens, the Montreal Forum and Boston Garden were around for almost a century and nobody really complained?
Now we get 30 years deep and people are actually discussing, not only a refresh on the Rogers Centre but an entirely new ball park for Toronto.
But before we scoff, set the timer at 25 years because I can’t wait to hear about how outdated the new Mosaic Stadium is in 2045. It’ll happen, if not sooner.
