Bringing a fake toy gun to school has landed real charges for a 16-year-old boy.
The teen is facing two charges after bringing a cap gun to school on April 26.
Around 2:50 p.m. police were called to Winston Knoll Collegiate for reports that a student was believed to be in possession of a weapon.
No threats were made by the student, but a weapons protocol was enacted at the school to ensure everyone remained safe.
The 16-year-old was arrested without incident and it turned out the weapon was a cap gun.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with possession of an imitation weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was released on an undertaking and will make his first court appearance on June 12.
