It was meant to be only one day, but a vigil for the family killed in a crash north of Saskatoon has gone global.
On Saturday, friends of the Van de Vorst family asked people to put glow sticks in their windows to remember the family killed on Jan. 3 on Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road north of Saskatoon.
Friend and fellow photographer Jacqui Ferguson said the vigil’s Facebook page soon had of pictures posted from as far away as the Hawaii, Texas and the Philippines.
“I’m extremely moved, I had no idea that many people across the province and the world would participate and show their love for Jordan, Chanda and the kids,” Ferguson said.
Because of the tremendous response, Ferguson said she plans on compiling the pictures into a book as a keepsake for the family.
“We just thought it would be a nice little light in a very tragic event in their lives where they can kind of look back and feel the love and support from everyone.”
