Moose Jaw, Regina among worst roads in Sask.

Three roads in Moose Jaw, with one taking the top spot, and one Regina road have found their way onto Saskatchewan’s worst roads list.

A total of 1,782 votes were cast during the 2018 CAA Saskatchewan Worst Roads campaign from April 16 to May 6.

High Street West in Moose Jaw was named the worst road in the province. The city has recently said work on the road continues and remains a top priority for them.

Academy Park Road in Regina also made the list, coming in at number four.

Worst roads are described as having cracks, crumbling pavement, potholes or craters, poor or no signage, traffic congestion and lack of cycling or walking infrastructure.

“Potholes and crumbling pavement remained as the number one problem identified by voters during the 2018 CAA Worst Roads campaign,” Christine Niemczyk, director of communications with CAA Saskatchewan, said in a news release.

The results will be shared with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, municipal councils, Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) and the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA).
