Yet that’s what the Toronto Raptors did during the fourth game of their NBA series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
After two close losses in their first three games, the Raptors faced the impossibility of rallying against LeBron James’ Cavs. But they should have put in an effort.
Instead, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry showed why they’ll never win a championship. They quit. They let down an entire franchise, showing emphatically the Raptors are broken. Something needs fixing when their toughest person is head coach Dwane Casey.
Casey led Toronto to the NBA’s best record. There was optimism after the Raps eliminated Washington, but it devolved so badly Casey benched DeRozan late in Game 3 against Cleveland. And DeRozan got ejected in Game 4, completing his disappearing act in the embarrassing, 128-93, season-ending loss.
