The provincial job website is back online.
In the past month, Saskjobs was merged with the federal equivalent called Jobsbank, but that change led to a number of complaints.
Employers told 980 CJME it wasn’t user-friendly and didn’t display all of the jobs available in Saskatchewan.
The provincial privacy commissioner also pointed out the new iteration requires unnecessary, private information to set up an account.
As a result of that feedback, the provincial government has decided to keep Saskjobs online while the merge with the federal site continues.
In a news release Wednesday, immigration and career-training minister Jeremy Harrison said the website has been used in Saskatchewan since 1999.
“While the move to the national job bank website will offer more benefits to employers and job seekers, it has been challenging for some businesses and individuals to adapt,” he stated. “We have listened carefully to those concerns.”
The province said the merger will allow employers and people looking for a work a new platform with enhanced security, added more benefits and had a better look and feel.
“We will continue to engage saskjobs.ca users and ensure a more hands-on approach to the transition,” Harrison said. “The next six months will be spent engaging employers, job seekers and community partners about the upgrade.”
