Three years since it kicked off, Saskatoon residents might get their first glimpse of the city’s Growth Plan to build a city for half a million people.
The city’s administration wants the Governance and Priorities Committee to host a special Growth Plan Summit. The summit would be open to the public and give everyone a chance to see and comment on the plans.
The motion still needs to be approved by the committee at their meeting on Monday. If they give it the green light, the summit could take place at their regular March 14 meeting between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. unless the committee decides otherwise.
The administration says not hosting a summit would mean council and committees would vote on the final report without a chance to look through it thoroughly and ask the planners some questions.
The growth plan kicked off in 2013. The city hosted four rounds of public engagement and technical evaluations to construct their final recommendations to build a city suited for half a million residents.
Information about the plan, as well as dates for future events can be found on the Growth Plan website.
