Rainstorm not enough to impact dry conditions

Raindrops were falling on the province Tuesday night, which was a much-needed relief for many.

In the words of Luke Bryan, “where I come from, rain is a good thing.”

But unfortunately, the amount of rain that fell likely won’t make a difference to the current dry conditions in the province.

Environment Canada reports the most amount of rain recorded was at Maryfield in the southeast near the Manitoba border. About 17mm fell, less than an inch. In Melville, 12 mm of rain was recorded or less than half an inch.

The rest of Saskatchewan saw between five and 10mm of rain, again less than an inch.

There are thunderstorms still in the forecast this week but any rain will be sporadic and likely won’t soak the ground through.

Conditions are so dry right now in the province the fire risk map is almost entirely red.
