No charges were laid after a man who threw a fridge down at a police officer in Regina was tased.
Police said they were called to a home on the 300 block of Toronto street for a domestic disturbance around 1:50 p.m. on Saturday.
According to police, when the first officer got there, the 41-year-old man inside was extremely “agitated”. The officer was concerned for the safety of the woman inside the home, so he went in.
The man didn’t listen to the officer’s commands, and allegedly became aggressive and threw a fridge to the ground toward the officer, so the man was tased and arrested.
The man was taken to hospital to get checked out, as per police policy when a conducted energy weapon is deployed, but he wasn’t hurt. He was arrested for breach of the peace, but no charges were laid.
According to a news release from Regina police, the police service and other community support systems are taking steps to ensure the future safety for the family involved in the domestic violence situation.
