Man assaulted, robbed in home invasion north of Yorkton

A man is in hospital after being assaulted in the middle of night during a home invasion.

RCMP said several people wearing masks and carrying weapons broke into a home Wednesday around 1:30 a.m. in the village of Rhein, located about 36 kilometres northeast of Yorkton.

The group assaulted the man, who was reportedly alone in the house. Police said the suspects then stole several items, including a large sum of cash and two guns before taking off in an unknown direction.

Officers were called out to respond to the report of a break-and-enter and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police did not have a description of the suspects available. They are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious vehicles driving in the area or who has additional information to report it to the Yorkton RCMP detachment at 306-786-4500 or  to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
