A precautionary water advisory is in place for some customers as work is done to the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant.
The drinking water advisory only affects customers who get their water from the west and north pipelines – including marquis rural water users. The villages of Marquis, Tuxford, Bethune, Disley and the Qu’Appelle Valley Water users are not affected by the advisory.
The planned shutdown at the plant began at 7 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to be done by 11 p.m. Service will shutdown for the north and west pipelines during that time. When service does return, people are urged to boil any water to be consumed for at least one minute prior to use.
The Water Security Agency will notify the public of when the advisory will end, as two samples taken from the pipeline – 24 hours apart – will have to be analyzed and found to be free of bacteria.
