New Regina home to offer safe environment for vulnerable teens

A home for vulnerable teens is now open for the Regina area.
 
The home, which is operated by 4 Directions Child and Family Services Inc., will provide a safe environment for up to six young people in care.
 
“We are pleased to open this new group home for young people in the Regina area,” 4 Directions Child and Family Services Inc. board chair Derald Dubois said. “For young people in need of a safe, secure and caring home, being a part of their community and culture with access to educational, sports and recreational opportunities can make a world of difference in providing them with the supports they need to realize a better future.”
 
The government is providing almost $900,000 in annualized funding to 4 Directions to operate the new home in addition to the $200,000 in one-time capital costs for the project. The new group home has been in operation since December 2015, and is designed to accommodate both male and female youth aged 12 to 15 years.

The group 4 Directions Child and Family Services Inc. has been providing stabilization services for youth since October 2000. They presently operate two 10-bed homes located on Muskowekwan First Nation.
