If you’re planning on buying or selling a house, you might soon have some difficulty.
New rules in the last two years were supposed to calm down skyrocketing house prices in Toronto and Vancouver, but it’s thought that won’t help Saskatchewan cities where demand is declining.
“There’s no such thing as the Canadian housing market,” CEO of the Association of Regina Realtors, Gord Archibald, said.
He’s suggesting national rules should be gotten rid of.
“If Toronto and Vancouver housing markets were the targets, then do that on a targeted basis as opposed to applying it on a broad brush approach right across all markets in Canada,” Archibald said.
In the spring of 2018, the association launched a survey and found out an average of 1.4 clients left the market because of these rule changes.
