The Windscape Kite Festival is taking over Swift Current skies this weekend.
Mike Kory is one of many professional kiters from all over the world heading up to participate in it.
As a quad-line stunter, he makes kites the size of buses dance by controlling four lines with two handles.
“You change the angle on one side, then on the other, you can speed up one side and that’s what will make it stop or spin — whatever you need it to do,” he explained, adding he and his Illinois-based team, 180 GO!, usually have a routine.
“Sometimes as many as eight of us on our team do things to music, so music will play and there’s formations in the sky and we kind of do a ballet to music.”
For those with a stunt kite they’re not sure how to fly, lessons will be given on-site for both kids and adults.
Kites will also be available to buy at the festival, or people can make their own in a kite workshop.
The Windscape Kite Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
